I am working on a invitation design for a wedding anniversary party. The couple has requested that their guests not bring gifts. I searched the internet far and wide to find correct wording for the invite to let guests know that bringing a gift or present is not necessary. Here is the list of text and wording samples that I complied:
- Gift us only with the honor of your presence.
- Your presence is the best gift we can hope to receive.
- Please, no gifts. Your presence is a present to us.
- No presents please, just your presence.
- Please bring only your company and your appetite.
- Your presence at the celebration is enough of a present.
- Your presence is the only present desired.
- Your loving presence in our lives is a gift…we request no other.
- Your presence is the best gift you could give us.
- No presents please, just your loving presence.
- Your good wishes are the only gifts that we wish to receive.
- As appreciated as your gifts may be, they are not needed as you will see.
The presence of our family and friends will do, and make our day special too.Sayings more specific for Birthday, Anniversary, Etc:
- There is nothing she needs, she has toys galore.Β The very best present, is you at the door!
- There is nothing he needs, he has toys by the ton. The very best present, is you having fun!
- After 50 years, we need nothing more. The very best present, is you on the dance floor!
Whether it be for a birthday party, wedding, anniversary or any other celebration – if you are requesting that your guests not bring gifts, I hope one of these wording suggestions will work for your invitations. π

Hey! I used one of your wording samples for Layla/Tessa’s birthday invitation; love the site!!
Thanks Lauren! I love hearing comments on how people used my site for inspiration. Have a great day!
Thank you for an elegant way to express “no gifts, please”. Much appreciated!
Nice Melissa! I picked up one of the lines from above for my brother’s wedding invite. Thanks!
Great! Glad I could help π
My friend asked me to help her with the wedding invitation design and this post was very helpful! Can’t thank you enough. π
I so appreciate your compliment! Thanks for the comment!
Just googled “no gifts wording for adult party” and this popped up! Used “please bring only your company and your appetite”. Thanks girlie! π
Thank you so much for the clever ways to request no gifts for our celebration of our (senior) marriage. I mix/matched a couple…”No presents please, just your loving presence”….
ohhhh i like that! I’ll add it as a bullet on this blog post. Thanks Jan!
These are so well worded! Thank you. I will use them for my son’s birthday invitations.
Awesome! Glad to hear!
Thanks for these, I’m making invitations for my aunt’s birthday and was looking for nice ways to say ‘no presents’.
Hi Melissa we are looking for a rhyme for guests not give presents to put on our golden wedding invitations. We share the same surname. Best wishes Susan Rudolph
Hi Susan! How about this rhyme for your anniversary invitations: After 50 years, we need nothing more. The very best present, is you on the dance floor!
We received an invite to a house party at Christmas and the sentiment was worded as ‘bring nothing, our cupboards are full’ which I thought was a lovely way of putting it!
This is what I plan on using on my wedding announcements. It is very similar to what my grandparents used on their anniversary party invitations:
Your love and friendship
are our most cherished gifts.
No others respectfully requested.
Thanks for the great suggestion!
some great suggestions here, thank you π
Hi Melissa i am looking for a phrase to put on invite my daughter who is having a princess party will turn 4. We are from Canada but we will celebrater her bday in the Philippines We do not want gifts bec we wont be able to bring them here. Insteadni would like to ask guest to donate and proceeds will go to the needy back in my country. Is that ok?
That is so kind and I’m sure your guests will love to donate. I would include something in the invitation that kindly asks guests to bring a donation. For example: Helping others will make __’s birthday extra special. In lieu of gifts, please consider bringing a monetary donation to be given to _______ charity.
Thank you so much! I was looking for clever ways to put “no gifts” on my daughter’s birthday party invite and found your site. I changed up one of the lines a bit – feel free to add it to your list if you like!
There is nothing she needs, she has toys by the ton. The very best present, is you having fun!
So cute! And thanks for the comment, Mariana!
Hi Melissa, can you suggest me a “no gift” invitation wordings for my daughters who’s turning one soon. We will celebrate it in our homeland but we will be flying back here in Dubai. I can not find the perfect wordings for our invitation. If guest insist monetary gift would be highly appreciated. Hoping for your reply.
Best Regards,
KC
Hi KC β Asking for a monetary gift can be toughβ¦what about asking guests to ship directly to your home?
While your love and gifts could fill every plane in the sky, one suitcase is all we have to fly back to Dubai. Your gift is being there to celebrate _____ (name) 1st year. If a gift is one you insist, please send directly to β-(your address)
